I have a true passion for bodywork and providing the best possible service for my clients. What I offer is the Orthosomatic System™ of manual therapy and self care instruction which has proven to be highly effective for treating chronic pain and orthopedic injuries. Some of my clients have found relief from pain they have suffered with for years. Others are athletes who find my work beneficial for preventing and treating sports injuries as well as helping them maintain competitive training schedules.
My approach to massage therapy has been developed through years of experience and built on the foundation of my education at the CORE Institute, from which I graduated in 1998. Over the last 15 + years I have had many amazing teachers and have had the opportunity to work with several local chiropractors and physical therapists. My greatest teachers have always been my clients who present me with the opportunity to help them find a structural balance within their bodies so that they may live a life of greater ease and freedom from discomfort and limitation.
I use a variety of techniques in my system which come from the perspectives of neuromuscular therapy, soft tissue mobilization, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, and structural integration. Most of what I do could be described by the general terms of deep tissue massage and medical massage. However, what I have discovered in my experience is that technique is just one part of what brings excellence to massage therapist’s work. What is even more important is the ability to “listen” to a person’s body and “see” with my hands. These are skills that can not be taught in a class and that truly set me apart.
Another unique aspect to my approach comes from my experience in exercise rehabilitation and my background in exercise science. Muscle imbalances and postural distortions play a huge role in chronic pain and non-optimal function in the human body. Manual therapy techniques can be very effective for treating these issues, however lasting change is only possible when active exercise training is utilized. The techniques that I use and teach increase range of motion, increase strength and stability, and empower my clients.
